Profile of the Week

Dr. Asthana is a Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Stout where he has taught since 1995. He earned B.Tech. and M.Tech. degrees at IIT Kharagpur and a PhD. at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He is a naturalized US citizen and married with two grown children settled at New York and Minneapolis. Dr Asthana’s research centers on science and technology of ceramic-metal joining, fiber- and particulate-reinforced metal composites, high-temperature capillarity, interfacial studies and materials processing generally. He has conducted research at India’s CSIR, University of Wisconsin and NASA. He has authored or coauthored over 200 publications and five books, coedited two books and special issues of four journals, and is on the editorial boards of some academic journals. He is also the chief editor of Journal of Materials Engineering & Performance, a former chief editor of Springer Materials and an elected fellow of American Society for Materials.
